Allow recording audio

Android will ask about recording audio. This allows capturing an app's sound, not your voice. Choose “While using the app”.

Share your screen with SpeakerLink?
Share entire screen

Android words it this way because sound capture uses the same permission. SpeakerLink takes only the sound, never the picture.

CancelShare screen
Only the sound of the chosen app.

Android always asks

Each time you tap Play, choose “Share screen”. Some receivers, such as a computer, also need your approval on their own screen.

Common questions

Why does Android ask for permission every time I tap Play?

Android requires a confirmation each time an app takes over the sound of another app. SpeakerLink sends only the sound of the app you chose to the receiver, never the picture of your screen. Some receivers, such as a computer, also ask you to accept the connection on their own screen: accept it there (declining ends the connection). A password does not turn this off.

How do I change the volume?

Three ways: the slider in the app, the quieter / louder buttons in the streaming notification, and your phone’s volume buttons. They work only while SpeakerLink is streaming and change the volume on the receiver, not on the phone. If an app that plays sound is on screen, the phone’s buttons control that app instead (see below). All show the same level in percent. The maximum is limited on purpose, so it does not get too loud.

The sound cuts out when the screen turns off.

Turn off battery optimisation for SpeakerLink: tap “Settings” on the main screen, open Battery and choose “Unrestricted”.
